Amelie & Charles Sparr

Amelie & Charles Sparr is a prestigious winery with a rich history dating back several generations. Located in Alsace, France, their vineyards benefit from the region's unique terroir, resulting in wines of exceptional quality and character.

Charles Sparr, eighth-generation vintner in Alsace, and his wife Amelie from the Barmès-Buecher winemaking clan, started their domaine in 2017 with vineyards spanning seven villages, including four grand crus. Their goal: terroir-driven, organic/biodynamic wines. They represent a new wave of winemakers revitalizing Alsace, showcasing its diverse terroir through clean, expressive, and natural single-varietal wines like Riesling, bursting with stone fruit and citrus, and Pinot Noir with heady aromas and concentrated flavors, marking a departure from traditional Alsatian reds.

The Sparr family's 30-acre vineyard in Alsace, centered in Wettolsheim, adopts organic and biodynamic practices since 2019. Their viticulture emphasizes natural balance amid warmer seasons, with hand-harvested grapes treated minimally. Riesling undergoes slow, gentle pressing, natural fermentation, and stainless steel aging, while reds ferment naturally and age in older oak barrels with minimal sulfite additions.

One of the standout wines from Amelie & Charles Sparr is their Riesling Grand Cru Schoenenbourg. This exquisite wine showcases the true essence of the Alsace region, with its vibrant acidity, elegant minerality, and complex aromas of citrus, white flowers, and petrol. It pairs beautifully with seafood, poultry, and creamy cheeses.

When you choose a wine from Amelie & Charles Sparr, you can be confident that you are selecting a wine of exceptional quality. The winery's commitment to traditional winemaking techniques, sustainable practices, and attention to detail ensures that each bottle is a true masterpiece.
